I stumbled across these pics of Whiritoa, my old summer haunts. I used to spend a lot of time over the summer life guarding and surfing here. A steep profile meant that the waves often broke pretty hollow, fast and with some punch. I went over the falls on more than one occasion. It was a sharp learning curve but I have good memories...
